Conservation Meets Design: The Exchange Wins Two Awards in May

On Monday, May 4, 2026, The New York Climate Exchange was honored to receive the New York League of Conservation Voters' Education Fund Award, a recognition that speaks to the core of our collaborative partner model and mission to accelerate climate solutions.

“Julie Tighe and the team at NYLCV does incredible work day in and day out to advance policy that protects our health and environment across our city and state, which makes this award especially meaningful” said The Exchange’s Vicki Cerullo.

This award celebrates The Exchanges’s commitment to educating and engaging communities around climate action, and energizes the 48-partner network to continue building a more climate-resilient New York City, State, and world.

Earlier that day, Dr. M. Sanjayan was formally announced as the new CEO of The Exchange. Sanjayan (pictured to the right of Exchange Board Chair Dr. Andrea Goldsmith) was able to attend NYLCV’s gala at Pier Sixty.

Two weeks later, on Monday, May 18, The Exchange received a NYCxDESIGN Award from Interior Design Magazine in the "On the Boards" category. This honor celebrates Skidmore, Owings & Merrill’s visionary design of The Exchange’s future campus on Governors Island.

“The goal of our campus is for visitors to experience a sustainable community that inspires and animates a resilient future” said Andrew Winters, Director of Capital Projects, Planning & Development at The Exchange. “To be recognized by a world-leading design platform is a testament that our team and partners are on the right track.”

Two awards in one month are a great reminder that The Exchange is building something special.

From conservation education to groundbreaking campus design, these recognitions affirm that climate leadership requires a combination of deep community roots and bold, forward-thinking vision. The Exchange is deeply grateful to NYLCV and NYCxDESIGN for this validation, and remains as committed as ever to the work ahead.
