Helene Hetrick
Director of Communications
Helene brings more than a decade of mission-driven communications and marketing expertise to The New York Climate Exchange. She developed a passion for the environment during summers spent in Maine, exploring the rocky coastline and abundant wildlife of Penobscot Bay. This passion has evolved into a commitment to bold climate change solutions. Prior to joining The Exchange, Helene served as communications director of Billion Oyster Project, a Governors Island-based nonprofit dedicated to restoring oyster reefs to New York Harbor.
Helene is a proud graduate of Indiana University, where she studied journalism and competed as a Division 1 runner. A prestigious postgraduate scholarship allowed her to travel through Scandinavia, studying the region’s world-leading sustainability practices. She enjoys human-centered storytelling, spending time on the water, and volunteering with her two daughters in their community garden in Brooklyn. Helene is excited to build impactful relationships and craft compelling narratives that help The Exchange and its partners shine in New York City and beyond.
