Exchange Partners Welcome New Leadership
The New York Climate Exchange congratulates its anchor partner Stony Brook University (SBU) and affiliate partner Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), both of which recently announced the appointment of new presidents.
Andrea Goldsmith, dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Princeton University, has been named the seventh president of Stony Brook University. She succeeds Richard McCormick and Maurie McInnis, both of whom served as Chairs of the Board of Directors of The Exchange and made lasting and vital contributions to our organization’s leadership and vision.
As Stony Brook’s chief executive, Dr. Goldsmith will lead one of SUNY’s flagship institutions, a renowned R1 university and a partner in the management and operation of Brookhaven National Laboratory, an advisory partner of The Exchange. Dr. Goldsmith will be instrumental in our work to build a world-leading climate solutions center on Governors Island in New York City, and we look forward to working with her.
At RIT, William Sanders, currently dean of Carnegie Mellon University’s College of Engineering, will succeed David Munson as president. President Munson served as a member of the Board of Directors of The Exchange, offering strategic advice and wise counsel. Sanders takes the helm of RIT at a time when it is internationally recognized for excellence in technology, the arts, and design. His experience includes work at the forefront of national efforts to make the U.S. power grid smart and resilient, which is closely aligned to the mission of The Exchange.
Congratulations to both President Goldsmith and President Sanders, we look forward to welcoming you to The Exchange!
