The New York Climate Exchange is a nonprofit that unlocks climate solutions by activating a unique partner model and Climate Campusβ€”coming to Governors Island in 2029.

  • New York Climate Exchange campus

The New York Climate Exchange isΒ working to build a globally renowned campus on Governors Island where the world’s most promising climate solutions can be developed at speed and scale.

  • Starting in fall 2029, Governors Island visitors will step off the Governors Island ferry at Yankee Pier, arriving at the doorstep of our Climate Campus.

  • The campus will prioritize innovative materials and technologies, including New York City’s first large-scale mass timber building. A sweeping solar canopy will allow the energy needs of The Exchange’s convening centerΒ to be met with onsite renewable energy.

  • The Exchange’s restoration of a former barracks building will transform an elegant, abandoned structure into a vibrant center for student life with dormitories for undergraduate and graduate students, common spaces, and a new public courtyard.

  • A grand convening hall, featuring assembly seating for 650, will be the ultimate stage for climate events that challenge in-person audiences to listen and learn from one another.
